Range:
Breed in colonies in marshes and islands from southern Russia to Mongolia. They are migratory, in wintering season they travel to the Middle East, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf, the South Caspian Sea, the Arabian Sea, the North Indian Ocean, and the Bay of Bengal. They also winter in the Indus valley in Pakistan, the Ganges valley in northern India, and Myanmar.
