    Range:
    North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Birds from Africa and Australia sometime migrate short distances but birds from other countries migrate to south in the cold season. In India, they are found allover in winter season except North, North-west and eastern states.
    Habitat:
    Mainly around the Baltic sea and the Black sea, in large lakes, reservoirs, and on the southern coast. In cold season these birds are found mostly in marshes and estuaries
