Water Birds

Birds that live in or around water are known as water birds or aquatic birds. These birds require aquatic environment for survival. They make up one of the most charismatic fauna which inhabit wetlands. Some water bird species are not fully adapted to the aquatic environment and only use these locations for part of the year, depending on nesting, breeding or even moulting phases. There are about 740 water birds’ species in India.
